Exploring artistic partnership from multiple vantage points, uncommon practice / open studio is a project built on the belief that collaboration nourishes creators, expands communities, and has the potential to unfold into new projects, unexpected learning, exceptional growth, and innovative creation. Working in partnership, The Phoenix Concerts and The Hartt School co-present a program of contemporary works featuring collaborative performances by Hartt School faculty members Carrie Koffman, saxophones, and Rita Porfiris, viola - each paired with one of their students - bolstered by vocalist member of The Phoenix Players, Gilda Lyons.   New chamber works will include the world premiere of a series commission for voice and electronics by Ken Steen, composer-faculty member of The Hartt School, and the world premiere of a new student work by the winner of the 2017/18 Phoenix Concerts / Hartt School Score Call.
